Shyue Woon is trained as an architect, his photography explores the dichotomy of the factual and fictitious aspect of the built environment, through the study of its complexity in spatial, texture and time.
Currently, I reside in Singapore and am looking for a chance to spend more time exploring my own city. I've previously completed the City series on Tokyo (Capsule), Seoul (Euljiro), Manila (Gomorrah) and Singapore (Carpark).
During my recent photowalk in Chinatown (Petaling St), I chanced upon the oldest guesthouse in the area (according to the caretaker). For this KL-GA project, I'd like to start a series on the historical guesthouses/hotels in China Town (Petaling St), to capture the stories and dreams, from the owners and guests.
