Dance of the Kavadi by Cheryl Hoffmann
February 4, 2017 - Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur.
Cina Rasa Urumee Melam Masana Kali is the most respected urumee group in Malaysia. They took 4 large kavadi up the stairs, carried by 4 members of the group, on behalf of their temple in Ampang Jaya, KL. They undertake the pilgrimage before the actual festival because they have bookings to play and accompany other devotees and kavadi carriers during the festival. This is Cr Bhai dancing with kavadi at the riverside before the group began the walk to the caves. The music was being played by Sanggamum Urumee Melam from Ipoh.
